Resources for The Integral Stage @ The Portal
Mini-course co-led by Layman Pascal, Bruce Alderman
“The Integral Stage is the first draft for the liminal web” - Layman Pascal
This month at The Portal we will be hosting
and Bruce Alderman for a month-long investigation of “The Integral Stage” as a project. This project can be helpful insofar as it shows a pathway between “big picture thinking” and “thinking real cracks” without losing either, or letting one compromise the other. In a meta-reflective sense, “The Integral Stage” can be thought of as a helpful model in the crack of “the chronic crisis of academia”. Both Pascal and Alderman concretely demonstrate how to collaborate between institutions and networks, cultivate transdisciplinary podcasting, blogging, and writing projects with in-person events and organising, as well as community building and inter-community coordination.Throughout the month we will explore how this model can be used to think the future of para-academic work, with concrete reflections on the theory and praxis underlying The Integral Stage; explore the edge of Bruce Alderman’s “integral grammatology” which points us towards the “in-between space” of slippery and ambiguous middles between metaphysical paradigms as parts of speech; learn with Layman Pascal and Schuyler Brown the role of Gurdjieff’s notion of sexuality in life and community; as well as a collective investigation of the meaning of multiperspectival ethics.
Below you will find some of the core resources for this investigation, which includes:
The Integral Stage: background on The Integral Stage as a project
The Integral Theory: background on the theoretical foundations
Education In/As Transition: excess/surplus in in-betweenness
Apocalyptarians: disposition of living in an age of transition
