Starting tonight (January 9th) at 7pm CET, I will be hosting the fourth of five Science of Logic pre-course sessions, in preparation for the Science of Logic course starting January 16th 2023. You can access the live pre-course sessions via the community tab at Philosophy Portal. In the fourth session, I will be presenting, and we will be discussing, Hegel’s logical response (to “Kant’s Critique” and “Fichte’s Freedom”). This presentation/discussion will give a necessary background and foundation for entrance into Hegel’s actual logic. Some of the major themes we will cover include:
The role of conceptual work in positivising negativity
Subject matter of Logic as discourse itself (no exit/escape from language)
Relations between intelligibility and unintelligibility in founding discourse
Core distinctions which govern the unfolding of Hegel’s logic
Relation between Being and Becoming in narrative processes
